Parents often feel isolated when navigating the challenges of raising children in the digital age. Questions about when to give a child a smartphone and what restrictions are appropriate for school use are very common. Discussing these topics with friends, family, and community members can also be tricky. We understand how complicated this can be, which is why we're here to help. By creating supportive platforms, we aim to make it easier for parents to talk through their concerns, ask questions, and find the answers they need together.

• Our Instagram account and Facebook page will give you quick nuggets of information that are easily digestible and shareable. To get more involved, you can join our Facebook Group which is actively discussing many topics related to our mission.

Parents making an IMPACT

Parents across the US are working hard to make changes in their homes, schools, and communities regarding smartphone use for kids of all ages.

Laura, SFC-US, is meeting with her local school principals and parents to support and share information with them (yes, over the summer!). Principals want to feel supported as they move through this process of evaluating phones in schools. Laura brought with her a printed copy of the Administrator’s Toolkit from The Phone Free Schools Movement and the Kids Brains and Screens course book from ScreenStrong.

Follow Laura’s lead and start conversations with your local school administrators now, during summer break (they're likely already considering this topic). I started feeling the pressure of kids with smartphones when my oldest daughter was in 5th grade and that’s when I started to talk to others about delaying the smartphone. I think it’s SO important to let kids be kids! They don’t need to be exposed to all of the things that a smartphone brings. I’m here because I want to bring awareness to other parents that we can make a difference and help kids have a childhood by enjoying the real-world around them! The research keeps coming that smartphones aren’t good for our kids.
